Michelle Obama was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.

Obama grew up going to a Methodist church in her neighborhood.[1] It is unclear if and to what denomination Michelle adhered between her childhood and her marriage to Barack Obama but while her husband was doing community organizing in Chicago, the family paid lip service to the Trinity United Church of Christ.

However, their former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, once told an inquirer:

Church is not their thing.[2]

He went on to add that the Obamas only attended services with photographers and if there was some political reason for it.[3] If true, it throws into question Michelle and her husband's faith in general and causes one to question the conviction of their words on faith.
